Over the past few years Bassline Productions have had the privilege of working alongside some fantastic charities, creating spectacular events and raising money for just causes along the way.
2016 just got way more awesome as we find ourselves peddling at break neck speed (albeit not moving anywhere) towards our first foray into the realms of the Guiness Book of World Records! The project? The world’s largest and longest non-stop spin class, involving 350 exercise bikes and over 1,000 participants!
We are delighted to announce that we have won our pitch to join the brilliant Rave & Ride this May, raising money to fund a fellowship at the University of Oxford, researching Motor Neurone Disease and how best we can combat it.
In their own words...
“Rave & Ride is a totally unique "never been done before" organisation. We hold indoor cycling and spinning ® sessions with House/Techno DJ's, fully immersed in a live night club environment. It was born out of a passion for dance music, fitness and to promote charity events involved in the £100K challenge which was pledged to the Motor Neurone Disease Association 17 years ago.
So far, Rave & Ride have managed to raise £116k which is being used to fund a fellowship at the University of Oxford. This project will study further the function of Oxr1 gene and its protein product, and explore the hypothesis that increasing the levels of protein could provide therapeutic benefits in MND.
Founded by Steven Smith (Entrepreneur/Head Spin Instructor/DJ) who has suffered the loss of his Mother to MND & Tom Finn (DJ/Producer/Defected Records - was Head of Video at DJ Mag) with three other key members; Kirsty Beck - Event Director, Andy Young - Resident DJ & music booker, Andy Hughes - Resident DJ.
Rave & Ride have hosted events in the UK and Amsterdam which were hugely successful. The next big event is an 9 HOUR spinning marathon (split into 1 hour and 8 hour events), in the hope to break TWO Guinness World Records on May 14 2016, using headline DJ's at the exclusive Stoke Park Club involving 350 bikes and potentially 1000 people. There will also be an outdoor food festival, Double Decker Bus Bar, sports stalls and other ongoing activity.
DJ Mag, Pioneer, Defected Records are sponsoring the event as well as Core Health & Fitness and other health brands, and is endorsed by some very well known underground DJ's such as Saytek, Nightmares on Wax, Acid Mondays, Catz N Dogz and Joris Voorn (see video on our web site - link below).
Richard Jones from the Stereophonics (a cycling/spinning fanatic), Callum Best and Angie Best will also be attending - Richard will be doing the full 8 hour spin for charity. More celebrity appearances to follow …” - http://www.raveandride.com
Bassline Productions will be along for the ride as well, and as with the other charities we have worked with, we will be fronting our very own team of cyclists to raise money for the cause as well! Needless to say, Bassline Director Charles is a tad more excited about getting on a bike than he was when he climbed into the ring for a charity boxing match two years ago! Protecting the money maker as he says!
