Two weeks ago at the beginning of March, Bassline Productions revisited the Event Production Show (EPS) to rub shoulders with the who’s who in the event industry. From potential clients walking around the plethora of stands collecting business cards and brochures, to the many organisations and companies exhibiting throughout the Kensington Olympia.
2016 was a bit different for us - where previously we were the clients, trawling the shop floor for suppliers for our events so we could cross hire the equipment needed to produce them; this year we were exhibiting in on our very own stand.
We’ve now grown from a small equipment supplier, only able to cater to one event at a time, to an outfit which can supply multiple parties simultaneously, across a diverse spectrum of event genres. Whilst cross hire is inevitable in some cases, the ability to supply turn key production and event equipment to several events has dramatically reduced logistical headaches and increased margins in house, allowing for exponential stock growth and some exciting additions to our equipment portfolio.
The EPS is the UK’s leading event for the live sector, and the biggest and most important showcase for the industry. Whilst the stand fee was expensive, and there were many hidden costs such as electricity, the electrician to sign it off (who never showed up even though we were charged), and a number of other post-booking-charges of note; the clientele and opportunity to network were second to none.
As a result, we have come away and within two weeks landed work to the value of over twenty times the cost of the stand itself. But aside from the immediate fiscal rewards, there have been many opportunities presented and relationships forged, which can be duly fostered moving forwards, generating increased revenues and, most importantly and what we are becoming famed for…. FUN!
In summation and as a small to medium sized company, we would highly recommend attending the EPS and to definitely entertain the thought of a stand to exhibit your products and services. Who knows, if you’re lucky, you may bump into us next year!
